Barrys first ever film score is iconic for that reason. There are predictions of things to come. The score highlight (the Beat Girl theme) is an driving number for guitar and brass that foretells the upcoming James Bond Theme, while a number of cues have the fledglings of methods Barry would use consistently in his film music style. These include seedy jazz pieces and booming dramatic cues. In that mode, good stuff.
At the end of the day, however, this is pop music to a teen movie vehicle for Adam Faith. In keeping, the music stays largely within the realm of the twangy guitar and pizzicato strings of Barrys lightweight 1950s pop music with Faith. These include songs for Faith himself plus one for Shirley Anne Field. In that mode, a very dated teen pop score.
